Leading Notes holiday music course at Merchant Taylors’ School
The Easter 2024 Chamber Music Course is designed for advanced and improving string players of approximately Grade 4 – Grade 8 standard (minimum standard of Grade 4). The dates for this course are Monday 8th – Wednesday 10th April 2024, at MTS; full details can be found HERE.
For Parents
COME & LEARN TO SING! – adults (16+)
Vache Baroque, with Gabriella Liandu and Jonathan Darbourne
- Saturdays 20/27 April and 4/11 May, 11am-1pm
- Wycombe Arts Centre, 15 Desborough Rd, High Wycombe HP11 2PU
- No previous experience singing or reading music needed!
- £5 per session (includes light refreshments and sheet music to take away)
These sessions will be led by Gabriella Liandu and Jonathan Darbourne. The content will include:
- ‘Finding’ your voice: physical and vocal warm up exercises
- Learning folks songs and rounds
- Music notation: ‘learning the language’
- Singing from sheet music: how to follow and hold your line
- Improvising vocal melodies
- Practising for an (optional) informal showcase on Saturday 11 May
Looking for something to do when the kids are at CMA?
Wycombe Concert Band (in affiliation with CMA) rehearses on Fridays at RGS from 7.45 to 9.15pm, and can accommodate adult woodwind, brass and percussion players, beginners through to intermediate standard. No prior band experience is necessary.
Wycombe is blessed with several good amateur orchestras and bands including:
WSL is a traditional brass band meeting in Waltham St Lawrence (between Maidenhead and Reading) on Wednesday evenings between 8 and 10pm. It is a friendly and safe with brass and percussion players from a wide range of backgrounds, ages and musical abilities. The band plays at local community events and two formal concerts each year.
