This half-term, why not pop over to the Sound Shop?

Each day, we focus on an instrument group, with interactive workshops and the opportunity to try instruments.

  • Location: the ‘We Make Wycombe’ Hub – 2 Corn Market, High Wycombe. (The Hub is a dedicated community creative space managed by ‘We Make Wycombe’.)

String taster session

Saturday 23 May

The string family tells stories without saying a word. Experience how horsehair and wood generate pure emotion and play the fastest notes in the orchestra!

A hands-on introduction to the Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass. No experience needed – instruments provided.

The Rhythm Pavilion

Sunday 24 May

As the town leaps into the spirit of Frogfest, hop over to the Hub to learn about pulse and rhythm. Perfect for children who love to feel the beat and make some noise!

Air Waves

Tuesday 26 May

Already playing a woodwind instrument? Meet other young players and develop your skills in a fun, relaxed shop-front setting. Bring your instrument and a music stand.

  • 10 – 10.40 am
  • grade 0-1 (age 8-12) – for children who have been learning a woodwind instrument for at least a term

Woodwinds are the engineers of the breath. From the bird-like chirp of the Flute to the deep, earthy growl of the Bassoon, we weave air into melody!

A hands-on introduction to the Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon and Flute. No experience needed – instruments provided.

An immersive workshop for young music lovers. Explore sounds, rhythm, and song in a creative way. No previous musical experience is required – just a love of music and a sense of fun.

Brass taster session

Brass sounds the victory! See how a simple buzz transforms into a fanfare. Discover how a coiled-up tube can shake the foundations.

A hands-on introduction to the French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone and Baritone Horn. No experience needed – instruments provided.

Jungle Jam

Grab your explorer hat! Our Jungle Jam is a musical adventure for pre-schoolers. We use music and movement to explore the jungle, helping little ones develop coordination and social skills through rhythm.
