Susan Frank grew up in Hampshire, benefitting from their Award scheme, Specialist Music Course and Youth Orchestra and firmly believes in the advantages of music ensembles for young people. She held an Instrumental Award at Selwyn College, Cambridge, where she won prizes on both flute and piano before being awarded a Countess of Munster Scholarship for postgraduate Flute study at the Royal Northern College of Music. She later won the Piano Accompaniment Scholarship at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Susan has performed as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician, freelancing with the majority of the UK orchestras on flute and piccolo. She started teaching as a teenager and has loved doing so ever since!
