Jonathan Veira has sung on the operatic stage for 30 years and taken leading roles in over 20 international houses. Beginning with Wexford Opera and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera he has gone on to perform at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Scottish Opera and Welsh National Opera. Internationally he has performed at the national houses in Zurich, Geneva, Copenhagen, Oslo, Leipzig, Stockholm, Lyons, Aix-en-Provence, Auckland as well as in New York, Amsterdam & Singapore.
He is renowned for his performances as Falstaff (Falstaff), Don Pasquale (Don Pasquale), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Dr. Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro and Il Barbiere di Silviglia), Papageno (Magic Flute), Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Don Alfonso (Cosi fan Tutte) Mustafa (L’Italiana in Algeri), Fra Melitone (La Forze del Destino), Dulcamara (L’Elisir d’Amore), Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd), Sharpless (Madam Butterfly), Scarpia (Tosca), Harašta (Cunning Little Vixen), Dr Kolenatý (The Makropolous case), Foreman (Jenufa), Kecal (The Bartered Bride), Dikój (Káťa Kabanová), Claggart (Billy Budd), Calchas (La belle Hélène) , The Doctor (Vanessa), Baron Zeta (The Merry Widow) Tonio (Pagliacci), Buonofede (Il Mondo della Luna).
Jonathan has recorded extensively over the years. In recognition of his career & personal achievements he has also received freedom of St Paul de Vence and an honorary masters degree at Chichester University.
